Biography
Danny Gilmore, a retired California
Highway Patrol Assistant Chief, has served his
country and his community with pride.
That service began with his enlistment
into the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1969.
After assignments at Camp Pendleton, El
Toro, and Okinawa, he received his
honorable discharge and embarked upon an
exemplary 31 year career with the
California Highway Patrol.
After graduation from the CHP Academy in
1972, Danny’s first assignments were to
the South Los Angeles and Oceanside CHP
offices.
Danny’s leadership skills
resulted in promotions through the ranks
of the CHP and to stations such as
Sacramento, King City, and Hanford.
Recognizing Danny’s marine training and
excellent physical conditioning, the CHP
Academy tapped Danny to lead the Patrol’s
Physical Training Unit. Cited as one of
the most demanding training programs in
law enforcement, Danny drilled CHP
Cadets daily for four years.
In 1981, Danny was promoted to sergeant
and assigned to King City. His
subsequent promotion to Lieutenant saw
him assigned as the Hanford Area
Commander. Promoted to Captain, Danny
was assigned as Commander of the Visalia
Area in 1995. His final promotion,
before retiring in 2003, was as
Assistant Chief to the Central Division
Headquarters, Fresno.
In addition to his outstanding law
enforcement credentials, Danny is a
graduate of Palomar Community College as
well as the Advanced, Supervisory and
Management courses of the Police
Officers Standard Training program.
Danny also taught weaponless defense
courses at West Hills Community College
in Lemoore.
Active with his fellow law enforcement
colleagues, Danny held membership with
the California Peace Officers
Association, the Tulare County Chiefs
Association and is a lifetime member of
the California Highway Patrolman’s
Association.
Danny married his lifelong sweetheart, Cindi, and together they raised two
beautiful children, a son, Damon, and
daughter, Deanna, who have now given them
six beautiful grandchildren.
Danny and Cindi have called Hanford home
since 1985 and have been active members
of the Calvary Christian Center. As an
active leader of his faith community,
Danny has been asked to share his
testimony on numerous occasions and in
many venues.
